Serbia's Laslo Djere broke serve twice in the third set and finished off third-seeded Sebastian Baez on his second match point to win the Movistar Chile Open 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 in Santiago, Chile, on Sunday.
Djere, who is ranked 103rd in the world, claimed his third ATP championship but his first since 2020 in Sardinia, Italy. All three of his titles have come on clay courts. He also defeated Baez, of Argentina, for the first time in three tries.
Djere saved 6 of 10 break points in the match (including 2 of 4 in the third set) compared with the 3-of-8 clip from Baez, who failed in all three opportunities in the final set.
After losing the first set, Baez fell behind 2-1 in the second before winning five of the next six games. He broke Djere to go ahead 5-3, and then took the next game on his second set point.
